Online collaborative learning
Collaboration is good for teaching
Learning is a social process during which participants together develop a consensus on a particular theme or work on a product. Working collaboratively generates superior thinking processes and information is stored longer than it is when working alone. Social impulses such as dialogue, discussion, contradictory perspectives or differences of opinion are usually good for the learning process.
Would you like to support group work with online tools?
The Unit for Teaching and Learning (UTL) offers suitable tools. They are linked with Moodle, ensuring easy access for students and faculty.
In addition to the projects supervised by UTL, other tools have also been established at ETH during distance learning due to Corona:
Zoom - video conferencing tool
(Tips on collaboration with Zoom can be found further down on this page)
MS-Teams - powerful collaboration tool that enables both video conferencing and joint work on Office documents.
Digital collaboration tools
- Using the polybox you can together create and edit documents in the usual office formats directly in the web browser. Using Moodle you can also share a folder with all course participants via the “Collaborative Folders” activity. Read more
- Use the PolyBook as a Moodle activity to make long documents attractive or work on them collaboratively with students. Read more
