Curriculum Vitae

Claudia Zingerli started as Head ETH Sustainability in June 2022 after previous assignments at ETH Zurich as senior scientist (2002-2006), education lead of Climate-KIC Switzerland and lecturer in D-USYS (2010-2014). Between 2014 and 2022 she acted as scientific coordinator of the Swiss Programme for Research on Global Issues for Development (external page r4d programme) and the Solution-oriented Research for Development programme (external page SOR4D), implemented by the Swiss National Science Foundation. In 2024 she was elected to the board of the external page Sustainable Development Solution Network (SDSN) Switzerland and since 2010 she has been a board member of the external page Swiss Academic Society of Environmental Research and Ecology, an expert associated of the Swiss Academy of Natural Sciences (SCNAT) and the Swiss Academy of Social Sciences and Humanities (SAGW). She holds a Master¡¯s degree in geography, social anthropology and economics from the University of Basel, Switzerland, and Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, and a PhD degree in development studies from the University of East Anglia, UK. In her academic work, she has been focusing on the political nature of natural resource management as well as the politics of knowledge production in sustainable development and transformation.

At ETH Zurich, she oversees and develops the sustainability portfolio of the university. She represents ETH Zurich in the board of the networkexternal page sustainability@swissuniversities, in the external page International Sustainable 365ÌåÓýÖ±²¥_365ÌåÓýͶע-¾º²ÂÍøͶ Network Advisory Committee (ISCN) and as chair of the external page Sustainable 365ÌåÓýÖ±²¥_365ÌåÓýͶע-¾º²ÂÍøͶ Initiative der International Alliance for Research Universities (IARU SCI).
