Curriculum vitae

Giuliana Turi has been part of ETH Sustainability since June 2022. She leads the Transformative Project “Low-Emission Business Travel,” which is part of the ETH Net Zero Programme and includes managing the ETH Air Travel Project. In addition, she works on projects and processes related to data communication and the inner dimensions of sustainability. Giuliana also represents ETH Sustainability in the Swiss Network for Sustainable Academic Travel and the Swiss University Coalition for Student Inner Development.

After studying physics at the University of Basel, Giuliana continued her academic journey at ETH Zurich, where she earned a master’s degree in Atmospheric and Climate Sciences. Her master’s thesis on the flow dynamics of the Rh?ne Glacier in Valais laid important groundwork for her doctoral research at the Department of Environmental Systems Science (D-USYS), where she modeled trends and variability in the oceanic carbon cycle of the California Current System. In 2015, she moved to Colorado, USA, where she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the external page National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, as a lecturer at the external page University of Colorado Boulder, and as a technical writer at the external page National Snow and Ice Data Center. After returning to Switzerland, she worked at the external page Swiss National Science Foundation, supporting the evaluation of research proposals, before taking on her current role at ETH Zurich.
