Data Stewardship
The concept of Data Stewardship for the ETH air travel emissions was developed in 2022 and includes the monitoring, processing and provision of the data.
Data Stewardship for ETH air travel emissions is a three-pronged approach to preparing, managing, and monitoring ETH air travel emissions so that the data is more easily accessible and viewable by ETH employees and the ETH community, the ETH Sustainability Team, the Institutional Research Team, and the general public. The three roles that make up Data Stewardship are:
- Data Ownership: lies with ETH Sustainability in the Office of the President
- Data Processing: lies with the Competence Center SAP (CCSAP) in the Controlling department
- Data Support: lies with Institutional Research in the Controlling department
The approach combines the collection and monitoring of emissions data in the ETHIS financial system with the public provision of the data in visual form via the air travel emissions dashboard. Underlying this is the calculation of the emission values by the external partner external page atmosfair.
