Your retirement phase
The preparation for a professor’s retirement is given the utmost attention at ETH Zurich. The three years before the actual retirement are used to create the prerequisites necessary for a controlled retirement in the best interest of the corresponding department and its members of staff.
The operational responsibility of the retirement process lies with the department; however, the corresponding units of the Executive Board are consulted depending on the issue. The Consulting for Professors unit (in charge of personnel matters conerncing the retirement phase) as well as the Office for Faculty Affairs (responsible for reallocation of the professorship's resources) are the contact points for all questions related to the retirement.
A triennial retirement phase begins with a meeting to which you are invited. The purpose of this meeting is to survey the specific aspects of retirement and determine the schedule of responsibilities.
