In principle, the goal of an application is the same in every country: with short and precise information, a potential employer should get an overview of your performance record and the motivation reasons for your application. Nevertheless, there are formal differences depending on the country, which you should consider when applying.

The two best known types of application are the CV and the resume. Find out what the CV is called in the respective country and what information should be included in the document. Check with local recruiting offices or local friends if you are unsure.

Always use the language of the job advertisement for your application. If another language is acceptable for applying, this is usually stated in the job advertisement. Be honest when it comes to your knowledge of the local language. If you exaggerate, the recruiter will notice this at the job interview at latest.

As with applications in Switzerland, you should make adjustments depending on the position and company. This increases your chances of success.

If you apply in another country, it is worth paying attention to the details in your application. Do you use the date format of the country and have you included the country code for your phone number? Pay attention to the paper format as this will also help the recruiter to review your application. In some countries, such as Germany, it is also common to date and sign your resume at the end.
