Lukas Vonesch named Head of Human Resources at ETH Zurich
The Executive Board has chosen Lukas Vonesch to be the new Head of HR. He will start work on 1 April 2015, taking over from former Head of HR Piero Cereghetti and the current interim Head, Cuno Künzler.
Lukas Vonesch (51) completed a degree in psychology at the University of Bern, specialising in occupational and organisational psychology. He has spent several years working on research and practical projects and offers a great deal of experience in international HR consultancy. He has also worked for Swiss Post, where he was involved in personnel development across the whole organisation.
Since 2001, he has held a number of management posts in human resources at Credit Suisse, with responsibility for staff nationwide. Among other things, he has been in charge of the recruitment and development of young staff, and has been responsible for cooperation with universities in Switzerland and around the world, development programmes for new career starters and professional training in business and IT.
Most recently, Lukas Vonesch’s responsibilities included advising managers and employees on sensitive and complex personnel issues, assisting with restructuring projects and supporting the staff affected by them, and occupational health management.
Looking forward to an open exchange of ideas
"I am confident that Lukas Vonesch, with his wide-ranging experience and pragmatic attitude, has an excellent understanding of the culture at ETH and will continue to develop our human resources management over the coming years," said Roman Boutellier, ETH Vice President for Human Resources and Infrastructure.
Lukas Vonesch, who as Head of Human Resources will have the rank of Director, is looking forward to his new job and to "an open exchange of ideas and working with my future ETH colleagues". He takes over from Piero Cereghetti, who left ETH Zurich at the end of September to take on the role of Head of Human Resources at the Swiss broadcasting company SRG.
Cuno Künzler has since been interim Head of the Human Resources and Services Infrastructure Division. "I am grateful to Cuno Künzler for showing such commitment and efficiency in continuing to manage Human Resources at ETH until Lukas Vonesch takes up his post," said Roman Boutellier, "and for doing so in parallel and in addition to his duties as Head of Personnel and Organisational Development."
