New food market now open on Hönggerberg campus
The new food market in the HPR building was officially opened yesterday. Its three counters offer a varied range of delicious dishes to tantalise the taste buds.
The completion of the food market represents another milestone in ETH Zurich’s catering and retail site strategy. After four years of planning and another two years of construction, the newly opened catering facility is already impressing customers with its modern, sophisticated design.
Under the project management of the ETH Public Real Estate Management Division (PREM), the former Physics canteen in the HPR building has been completely renovated, rebuilt, and partially extended. In addition to the redesign of the restaurant area, the entire technical infrastructure has been replaced and the building itself has been renovated in line with the latest energy efficiency requirements.
The new food market offers a wide range of options, including vegetarian dishes, pizza, pasta, and specialities from the grill. With its three different counters, high-quality fittings and modern design, the restaurant's innovative conceptual design also makes a strong visual impression.
The facility has been further enhanced by the newly designed atrium, and can also be used as a student work space at times when the food market is closed. The sizeable interior has capacity for around 620 people. The space now features an additional terrace, which provides access to the restaurant from the east side.
