COVID-19 vaccine bus coming to ETH
The Executive Board encourages all members of the ETH community to get vaccinated against COVID-19. This is now easier than ever thanks to the Canton of Zurich’s vaccine bus, which will be stopping at ETH during the first two weeks of the semester.
Whether it’s during your coffee break, between classes or on your way home, it’s now easier than ever to get vaccinated. For a few days in September, it will be possible to get the COVID-19 vaccine on the ETH or University of Zurich campus – without an appointment and free of charge. This is made possible by the Canton of Zurich’s vaccine bus, which aims to further increase the broader population’s access to the vaccine.
Vaccine bus: how it works
Anyone aged 12 and up – ETH community members or just anyone passing by – can receive their first jab in the vaccine bus. People without Swiss citizenship or Swiss health insurance are also eligible to receive a vaccine, as long as they are residents of Switzerland.
The second vaccine will be administered around four weeks later at the external pageUniversity of Zurich Corona Center, located at Hirschengraben 84. You can schedule a second appointment when receiving your first vaccine, or you can use the walk-in option and get your second jab without an appointment.
Please note that if you are planning to get additional vaccines (e.g. for the seasonal flu), you should do so either two weeks before the first dose or two weeks after the second dose.
When and where to get your vaccine
You’ll find the vaccine bus at the following times and locations:
- Monday, 20.09: University of Zurich, Irchel
- Tuesday, 21.9: University of Zurich, Zentrum
- Wednesday, 22.9: ETH Zentrum (Polyterrasse)
- Thursday, 23.9: ETH H?nggerberg (in front of the HPH building)
- Friday, 24.9: University of Zurich Oerlikon (Andreasstrasse)
- Monday, 27.9: University of Zurich, Irchel
- Tuesday, 28.9: University of Zurich, Zentrum
- Wednesday, 29.9: University of Zurich, Zentrum
- Thursday, 30.9: ETH H?nggerberg (in front of the HPH building)
Vaccines will be administered from 11.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. on the dates above.
Please bring the following documents:
- Health insurance card (if available)
- Official identity document
- Vaccination records (optional)
- Doctor’s note for allergy sufferers with a history of strong reactons
- Doctor’s note and written consent form for pregnant women
- People who have recovered from COVID-19: confirmation from a lab (PCR test, rapid antigen test or antibody test)
- Unaccompanied minors between 12 and 15 years of age: written consent form from a legal guardian
Containing the pandemic by increasing the vaccination rate
The Canton of Zurich’s Department of Health is hoping that the vaccine bus can help further increase the vaccination rate, thereby preventing the healthcare system from becoming overwhelmed this autumn. This priority is shared by ETH Zurich, which is why the Executive Board and the Safety, Security, Health and Environment (SSHE) department decided to make the vaccine bus accessible to the general public. “We hope that in this way we can do our part to help contain the pandemic,” says SSHE Head Katherine Timmel. “In the current situation, every vaccine counts.”
