New: Author names in the Research Collection and People Search
Employees of ETH Zurich can now save their preferred author name, including variants, in their ETH profile. This way, authors are included in the publication search in full.
Do you publish under different names? Or does your name allow for different spellings? To ensure that your scientific publications can be found in full and reliably assigned to your person, as a member of ETH Zurich you can now store your preferred author name as well as any other name variants that differ from the official spelling in your ETH profile.
The profile knows your names
To capture your preferred name variant, enter it in Addresses and Personal Data and at the same time link your Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) to your ETH profile. Your preferred author name will then be automatically applied to all publications in the Research Collection that are already linked to your ORCID. If you have entered further name variants, these will also be taken into account in a publication search.
Name variants entered in this way are also taken into account in the People Search on the ETH Zurich websites and in the course catalogue. They are also displayed in the search results.
All publications under one profile
If you have publications listed in the Research Collection that are not yet linked to your ORCID, assign them now. For a tutorial, refer to the Research Collection manual. There you will also find further information on the new author name function.
Research Collection – Knowing where
The Research Collection is the publication platform of ETH Zurich. University members can use it to publish academic full texts on an open-access basis, as well as to archive research data or to make these available to the public.
