Christmas meals can take place

The Corona Crisis Management team gives the all clear: Team events can take place at the end of the year again this year and can be charged to the budget of the organisational unit in question as usual.

As the end of the year is approaching, the Corona Crisis Management team is being inundated with enquiries as to whether team Christmas meals can be held again this year. As a reminder – the dramatic number of cases last autumn led to the cancellation of these popular events in 2020.

Christmas meals can take place again this year again. However, the Crisis Management team urges people to exercise due caution when organising these team events. This means avoiding the organisation of events with large groups and possibly also planning part of the programme or the entire event to be held outdoors. In view of the certificate requirement inside restaurants and other catering establishments, care should be taken at the planning stage to ensure that no one is excluded and that all team members have the opportunity to attend. Any concerns should be taken seriously and discussed openly.

Certificate requirement indoors

As is generally known, the certificate requirement applies both inside restaurants and to events held on ETH Zurich premises. This also applies if ETH events take place on private premises and are charged to the ETH budget. Testing costs incurred for non-vaccinated persons at team events will be charged to the employer and must therefore be settled via the budget of the organisational unit in question. Anyone wishing to hold an event without a certificate is well advised to hold it outdoors.
