Onboarding
In a nutshell: What's it all about?
The onboarding process covers employees joining ETH and their induction into the organisation, team and tasks. The phase between signing the contract and the end of the probation period is crucial for successful integration.
For new employees to be able to perform to their full potential, close attention must be paid to their induction into the team and their new role. Take time for the newcomer and include everyone involved - especially your team - in the onboarding process. This will help you complete the initial phase more quickly and see the investment pay off.
- Ensure good preparation and a structured onboarding process so as to support successful employment.
- Involve your team in onboarding so as to promote inclusion.
- Use onboarding to familiarise new employees with structures, processes and formal and informal procedures so they can quickly commence their actual tasks.
- Take the time to ensure successful onboarding, thereby strengthening not only the professionalism and reputation of the university, but also the motivation of its staff.
